Westbrook notches fifth triple double in six games

Russell Westbrook’s late charge for the MVP award continues in spectacular fashion. The OKC guard notched his fifth triple double in six games, his latest coming against the Toronto Raptors. Oklahoma won 108-104. Westbrook (or ‘Beastbrook’) continued his amazing run of form, putting up 30 points (9-21 FG), 11 rebounds and 17 assists.

James Harden and Stephen Curry have led the race for the award, as both players have led their respective teams to top four records in the stacked Western Conference.

But Westbrook’s rampant form in February, in which he averaged 31.2 points, 9.1 rebounds and 10.3 assists per game saw him thrusted into MVP candidacy. Unfortunately for Westbrook, the Thunder’s mediocre record may well be the deciding factor on whether he is crowned the NBA’s most valuable player come the end of the regular season. Only time will tell.
